An Elkhart man is accused of battering a woman for days on end.

Charles Peterson, 37, was arrested late last week after a woman accused him of abuse and threatening her life.

The woman was found, late Wednesday night, Nov. 17, on Sunset Avenue in Elkhart, battered, bruised and burned.

She told police Peterson choked her, beat her and burned her with cigarettes.

She also said he threatened to cut her with a box cutter and stab her with a sharp stick.

She said Peterson destroyed her phone and that the abuse lasted for days until she escaped to a neighbor’s home for help.

The Elkhart Truth reports Peterson faces charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon and domestic battery with prior conviction.

Additional charges are expected. He’s being held on $100,000 bond.
