A man was arrested after police say he led them on a chase and then kicked an officer in the face.

It happened on Saturday, Nov. 20, when police attempted to stop a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Union Street, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

When officers caught up to the driver, identified as Jamie Escobedo, they say he took off on foot.

A scuffle ensued when police caught up to him and tried to put him in the squad car. That’s when they say he kicked the officer, hitting his jaw and forehead.

Escobedo is being charged with resisting law enforcement and battery against a public safety official.
