The body of a 2-year-old girl was found in the White River on Sunday, downstream from where her father’s truck was found earlier this week.

Captain Jet Quillen with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources says Emma Sweet was found near some debris about 2 and a half miles away from her father’s truck. Captain Quillen confirmed she was found close to the location of her jacket.

Sweet and her father, Jeremy Sweet, were reported missing on Thursday. Around 6 o’clock Friday morning, duck hunters found her father’s truck in the East Fork of the White River. Jeremy was found in the truck by the hunters.

Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers says Jeremy was found with a needle and other paraphernalia. He will be placed on a 72-hour hold and transferred to the Bartholomew County Jail once he recovers from hypothermia treatment. Myers says Jeremy is still in critical condition.

Sheriff Myers also detailed how Jeremy has not been fully coherent since his rescue, and he has been giving investigators conflicting stories of what happened.

Jeremy has been out on bond for unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon and possession of methamphetamine.
