Mishawaka man sentenced to 15 years in prison for possession with intent to distribute

A Mishawaka man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Stephen Jacob Lee Johnson, 49, pleaded guilty to that charge and now faces 180 months behind bars.

According to court documents, officers in LaGrange tried to conduct a traffic stop on Johnson, who was operating a motorcycle.

However, Johnson led the Officers on a high-speed chase at speeds over 100 miles per hour before crashing over an embankment.

In a search incident to arrest, Officers found a one-pound package of methamphetamine in Johnson’s coat pocket.

At the time of this incident, Johnson had a prior conviction for Robbery, as a serious violent felony.
