Details about that big salad recall affecting Indiana, 18 other states

(95.3 MNC)

Fresh Express is recalling some of its branded and private-label salad products because they might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The salad items were sent to stores in Indiana and 18 other states.

The recall was issued after the Michigan Department of Agriculture detected Listeria bacterium in a random sample test of a single package of Fresh Express 9-ounce Sweet Hearts salad mix.

The recall includes all Use-By Dates of fresh salad items with product codes Z324 through Z350, reports the Food and Drug Administration.

Product codes can be found on the front of the packages below the Use-By Date.

A full list of recalled salad items can be found on the FDA website. [www.fda.gov/safety]

Fresh Express says it is working with stores to have the salad items pulled from shelves.

If you have any of the recalled items in your refrigerator, throw them away.

For a refund or for more information, you can call the Fresh Express Consumer Response Center at (800) 242-5472 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Time. Refunds are also available where purchased.

“If you have any of the recalled items in your refrigerator, throw them away.”

So they are asking everyone to toss their salads in the trash. Toss them right now.

Everyone needs to toss their salads ASAP.
