Expanded South Shore Line two years away

It’s full steam ahead for a railroad project in northwest Indiana.

The final contracts to “double track” the South Shore Line were approved last month.

When work is complete, the South Shore Line will have two tracks for two trains between Gary and Michigan City.

Mike Noland, South Shore Line President and GM, told Inside Indiana Business the project has been envisioned for decades.

Construction should be complete in the spring of 2024.
