South Bend Police Chief is asking once again for help from public

South Bend Police Chief Scott Ruszkowski is, again, asking for help from the public after a busy start to the new year.

Ruszkowski says the department didn’t want to begin 2022 with two separate shooting investigations, nor did they want to start the year with more than 165 reports of shots fired and an estimated 1,400 to 1,500 bullets fired before the sun came up on New Year’s Day.

He says officers can’t protect our neighborhoods alone, without the community saying “enough is enough” and without speaking up when something happens or, preferably, before it does.
