Foreclosure rates rise in Michigan

Foreclosure filings are on the rise in Michigan.

The number of foreclosure filings is still well below the pre-pandemic levels, according to WVPE, but they are increasing. One reason is likely the expiration of recent foreclosure restrictions. The January numbers reflected the change on mortgage servicers by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Michigan ranked fourth in the nation last month in filings, with one of every 3,127 homes in foreclosure. The national average was one in every 5,922.
