A former Concord High School teacher who is facing 18 sex crime-related charges has asked a judge to delay his trial because he’s being evaluated for insanity.

Andrew Cowells, 47, was in court on Thursday.

His lawyers told the judge he is being evaluated and those evaluations are still going on.

It was last May when prosecutors say Cowells exhibited inappropriate behavior inside a classroom and a restroom at Concord High School.

Cowells is charged with vicarious sexual gratification with a teenage victim, child solicitation and possessing child pornography.

He’s also charged with voyeurism, battery and harassment by electronic means.
