Purdue police officer on leave after video of pinning student goes viral

A Purdue University Police officer is on leave after a video of him pinning down a Purdue student was posted last Friday.

Police said this week that they are getting death threats. The video, which has been viewed thousands of times, shows Officer John Selke pinning student Adonis Tuggle.

Tuggle’s girlfriend, who is taking the video, yells at the officer. It is unclear what happened leading up to the moment where Tuggle is pinned, but police said in a statement this week that they’d gotten a call about someone holding a woman against her will.

An internal investigation of the incident will include a review of Selke’s bodycam video, which has not been made public.

Why would anyone WANT to serve now as a Police Officers protecting others??? The Lone officer rushed on campus to a distress call on 911. Man holding girl against her wishes. This is a dangerous call. He is by himself. The man would not comply with orders. They fought The woman filmed
The Police Officer is automatically deemed guilty, the other man a victim It just does not seem fair in any way

The New York POST (not that awful rag the Times) actually had a story in here with a link to the video. Tuggle kept resisting and squirming instead of complying. His girlfriend (who started the entire incident by being a drama queen and prompting the original call to the police) wasn’t helping the issue either. Instead of telling Tuggle to calm down, she starts screaming at (and laying hands on) at the cop.

Her video doesn’t show what led up to them being in a snowbank, but the photos in the article seem to corroborate the story that Tuggle wasn’t cooperative with the police. One can only assume what the officer’s video will show when it was released, but we’ve seen all of this before. Somehow, most of these cases always seem to exonerate the officer after the evidence comes out.

Sorry “Adonis”, but you don’t get to be a tough guy and resist the cops and then cry about it when you end up on your backside in a snowbank.
