Michigan is having a typical winter so far, as far as snow totals go.

But it’s hard to tell for most people, since it’s been coming in spurts.

Meteorologist Mark Torregrossa at M-Live says West Michigan has been among the snowiest spots, especially in the northwest corner of the Lower Peninsula and locally in Southwest Michigan. As you might expect, this is due to lake effect events fueled by warmer waters.

However, places in between, like Muskegon, have only had about half of their average snow.

But the snowiest spot in the state is Gratiot Lake in the Keweenaw Peninsula. They’ve had 265 inches, 100 more than last winter, and might see 300 inches by the end of winter.
