PHM first to lift bus masking requirements after CDC update

On Friday, the CDC unveiled several updates to their COVID guidelines, addressing the confusion about school buses being recognized as federal transportation, and therefore carrying a mask requirement.

The CDC said that mask usage was no longer required in low or medium level areas.

St. Joseph County currently falls into the medium level, and the Penn-Harris-Madison schools quickly announced Friday that they would no longer require masks on their buses.

Cases are on a steady decline now in Michiana and a number of mandates are being lifted in schools and other public places.
