A meeting is scheduled for next week to discuss the decommissioning of the Palisades nuclear power plant.

Southwest Michigan residents will have the opportunity to learn more about the plan to decommission the Van Buren County nuclear plant.

Topics will include the timeline, the use of the funds in the trust fund earmarked for the work, and how the radiological materials will be handled and transported off the site, according to WSJM.

The Palisades Community Advisory Panel has been holding a series of meetings with the public to prepare them for the steps involved in the closure of the plant next month.

The meeting will be held Wednesday April 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the South Haven Campus of Lake Michigan College.

It’s ok, just close it down and put up a windmill or a solar panel or something, we’ll be fine.
