Man accused of shooting at Rep. Jake Teshka’s car arrested

A man who allegedly shot at Indiana State Representative Jacob Teshka’s vehicle has been arrested.

Edmande Hill, 51, is charged with attempted battery by means of a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness.

Investigators say it was back in early December when Teshka was driving on the bypass and Hill took aim on his car while he was driving next to him.

Hill is currently in the Porter County Jail awaiting transport to the St. Joseph County Jail. If convicted, he faces up to 8-and-a-half years in prison.

Below is the news release from the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office:

St. Joseph County – Edmande Hill, 51, of South Bend was charged in relation to a
Dec. 8, 2021, shooting on the St. Joseph Valley Parkway. Hill was arrested today in Porter
County.

An investigation by the South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit found that
shots were fired at Indiana State Representative Jacob Teshka’s moving vehicle when he
was driving next to Hill on the St. Joseph Valley Parkway on Dec. 8, 2011.

Following the investigation, Hill has been charged with:

Count I: Attempted Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon a level 5 felony

Count II: Criminal Recklessness a level 6 felony

The sentencing range for a level 5 felony is 1-6 years. The sentencing range for a level 6
felony is ½-2½ years.

Hill is currently in the Porter County Jail, pending a review by the Porter County
authorities, and will be transported to the St. Joseph County Jail after their review for any
acts occurring in that jurisdiction.

Please be advised that this release and the charges filed against this defendant are merely
accusations and that he is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
