One person killed, another wounded after shooting on Stevens Avenue in Elkhart

One person was killed and a second was wounded during a shooting in Elkhart.

Officers were called, just before 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, to the 1600 block of Stevens Avenue where they found an unresponsive male behind a home suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead.

A second male was also located at the scene suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

He was given first aid and then taken to to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for further treatment.

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is leading the investigation. So far, there is no word of any suspects, arrests, or information about what led to the shooting.
