8-year-old child’s death deemed suspicious

An 8-year-old child’s death has been deemed suspicious.

Officers with the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety were called, early Tuesday morning, to the 700 block of Columbia Avenue.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Michigan State Police Crime Lab was called in to investigate the scene. An autopsy is being conducted.

Officers say there is no threat to the community.
