LaPorte man, 67, killed in crash on Dailey Road in Cass County

A LaPorte man was killed in a crash on Dailey Road in Cass County.

The collision happened around 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, north of Pokagon Highway in LaGrange Township.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene to find that two vehicles had struck head-on.

The driver of one vehicle was a 28 year-old man from Warsaw. The second driver was identified as Robert Sass, 67, of LaPorte.

Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extricated by Fire Fighters.

Both drivers were taken to hospitals for treatment. Sass died due to his injuries.

Both drivers had seatbelts on and airbags did deploy in both vehicles. At this time, it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors.

The crash remains under investigation.
