Two Elkhart shootings connected

The two shootings that happened earlier this week in Elkhart were connected. That’s the latest word from investigators.

The first shooting was reported just after 12:30, Wednesday, in the 2900 block on Pleasant Plain Avenue.

Police arrived to find 21-year-old Cassandra Gescheke dead at the scene.

Minutes later, police were called to the K-F-C on Main Street on the report of a man who attempted to take his own life.

33-year-old Jerry Hopkins died at the hospital.

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is still investigating this incident.
