Fire consumed the first floor of a building in downtown Mishawaka.

Crews were called, just after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, to the 100 block of Lincolnway.

The blaze was in the building that housed the former Smith’s Bar and Grille.

Some people were inside the building at the time, but were able to get out safely.

It took crews around 45 minutes to contain the fire.

Some of the neighboring business suffered damage from the smoke.

Traffic on Lincolnway at Main had to be shut down while crews were on scene.
