Elkhart man sentenced to 57 months in prison on weapons-related charge

Elkhart Police // Alyssa Foster
It’s nearly five years in prison for an Elkhart man who pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
It was back in September of 2021, when Elkhart Police arrived at a home on the report of a possible break-in.
Officers found Pletcher with a 20-gauge shotgun. Federal prosecutors say Pletcher has an extensive criminal history, including at least 8 prior convictions, and is prohibited for possessing a firearm.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives with the assistance of the Elkhart Police Department and the St. Joseph County Police Department.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank E. Schaffer.
