A 12-year-old was injured after being hit by a vehicle while on his bike.

It happened on Wednesday evening, at 5:17 p.m., when Elkhart Police were called to the area of S. 6th Street and W. Indiana Avenue on reports of a crash.

The 12-year-old was taken to the hospital with serious injuries to his leg and head.

Police say that the driver stayed at the scene with police.
