Police investigating attempted armed robbery at Dollar General store on M-139

A search is underway for the suspect who police say tried to rob a Dollar General store in Berrien County.

The attempted heist happened around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, at the store in the 9100 block of M-139, near George Street, in Oronoko Township.

Witnesses told police a male, described as black, wearing black clothing and a black face mask displayed a pistol to the clerk and demanded money.

The pistol was tucked in the suspect’s waist band. As the clerk was starting to place money into a bag, the suspect left the store without taking any money or property.

The suspect was last seen running eastbound from the Dollar General.

This incident remains under investigation.

I’ve known people who are too lazy to get a job. Being too lazy to finish an armed robbery is another thing altogether.
