A South Bend woman was killed in an accidental shooting.

Cass County Sheriff’s investigators were called around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, to the 3100 block of Detroit Road.

On arrival, police learned that Brittany Young, 35, had been shot. Emergency personnel rendered aid, but Young died due to her injuries.

The initial investigation determined that there was an accidental discharge of a firearm while Young was transporting it into the house.
