Homeless man facing charges, killing goose and slapping child

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

A man is facing charges after killing a goose and slapping a child.

It happened last week, on July 23, when South Bend Police were called to Leeper Park, after a homeless man slapped a 5-year-old-girl.

The mother of the girl told police that they were riding bikes, when the man, Joshua Rogers, slapped the child twice and knocked her to the ground.

A short time later, police were called again on reports of Rogers decapitating a goose.

WSBT News reports that when officials found Rogers, he was sitting on the body of the goose, with the head nearby.

He was arrested and has a court hearing set for the end of August.

It sounds like it’s too dangerous to go to city parks in South Bend. Mentally ill people with drug problems hang out at these places, and it’s no place to bring children. It’s sad because that park used to be safe years ago.

In all fairness, it’s not just South Bend. All parks everywhere were rendered unsafe by the Ninth Circus court when they gutted vagrancy laws.
