Applications open for St. Joseph County Police Department Citizen’s Academy

Applications are open for the St. Joseph County Police Department Citizen’s Academy.

It’s open to those 18 and older who are in the county.

The Academy start on September 1 and meets every Thursday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Those who participate will learn about how the police department operates.

The academy does not train participants to perform police duties.

Space is limited for the free classes, with only 30 participants.

A graduation ceremony is set for November 22.
