Michigan abortion initiative faces “grammar challenge”

Opponents of abortion rights being added to the Michigan Constitution say state officials should reject the initiative because there are “serious errors” in the text.

The group Citizens Supporting Michigan Women and Children claimed Monday that there are dozens of errors, including spacing between words, in the petition that was circulated among voters. They say the text of the amendment is filled with run-on words that are incomprehensible, and said the gibberish couldn’t be fixed.

The group said a formal challenge to the petition would be filed with state election officials. The Reproductive Freedom for All Initiative says their group is confident that the initiative complies with all legal requirements.
