Curtis Hill speaks out about his run for Jackie Walorski’s Congressional seat

Curtis Hill is among those on the list of candidates who are seeking the Republican nomination to finish out the late Congresswoman Jackie Walorski’s term in Congress.

Hill has a lot of name recognition, both good and bad, among Hoosiers in Indiana’s 2nd District. He is the former State Attorney General and was the Elkhart County prosecutor before that.

“While we are faced with the mourning of our friend (Walorski), we have a very real problem in the effort to replace her,” Hill said to WISH-TV. “Especially in this scenario where she is irreplaceable.”

Hill was not re-elected as Attorney General in the last election. He bowed out after his law license was suspended for a month over sexual harassment accusations against him at the time. He was never charged or tried in the case.

“I’m sure someone is going to bring up all sorts of old business,” Hill said of the accusations. “But, that’s old news. Folks in this district need someone who is a fighter, who can take the heat. If there is one thing I’ve proven over the years is I can take a licking.”

Republicans are putting together their plan for tackling the months ahead as we get closer to November. They hope to proceed with one candidate for both the special election and the general election.

“My expectation would be that we will hold the caucus for the ballot vacancy for the next term first,” said Indiana GOP Party chair Kyle Hupfer. “I would expect that given the circumstances that those who are unsuccessful there would withdraw themselves from the second caucus so that we can put that person on the ballot by acclamation to fill out the rest of the Congresswoman’s term.”

The special election and general election will be held simultaneously Democrats and Libertarians also planning to field candidates to fill the seat until the start of the next term.

Curtis Hill should have run for St. Joseph County prosecuting attorney instead. St Joe County definitely needs a tougher prosecutor and judges. He would be a better fit for that position.

Dean Swihart, the husband of Jackie Walorski is endorsing Rudy Yakym for the 2nd district. I believe Rudy will be the winning candidate. 🇺🇸
