Michigan’s gubernatorial debates are a matter of…debate

(Tommie Lee)

The debate over debates has begun between the candidates in the Michigan Governor’s race.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has proposed two debates against her challenger, Republican Tudor Dixon. Dixon, however, has said that she wants the debates to happen earlier, and might like more than two.

Wednesday, the incumbent announced that she has accepted invitations to participate in two debates with Dixon in October, both to be televised statewide. They are scheduled for October 13 in Grand Rapids, and October 25 in Detroit. Dixon says with absentee ballots going out in late September, she would rather see the first debate happen on September 20th.
