The second consecutive strong class of first-year students has Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology starting the 2022-23 academic year with more than 2,150 students. That is a near record for the nationally ranked undergraduate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics college.
Classes started for the fall quarter on Thursday, Sep. 1.
Nearly half of the incoming class came from outside Indiana or a bordering state.

With only 2150 seats, every student from outside of Indiana (let’s not pretend that they are even from inside the USA) is one less seat a Hoosier student has available. It’s one less seat building a future for our own kids. It’s one less graduate who will look at the local job options first.
Not good, no matter how they spin it, and the problem gets a lot worse when you look at the “state” schools (actually state subsidized).
