The U.S. Secretary of Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration is awarding a $1.4 million grant to the town of Middlebury to upgrade wastewater infrastructure to support business expansion, including the region’s critical recreational vehicle manufacturing industry.
The grant, which is funded by the American Rescue Plan, will replace and relocate the outdated Hardwoods Lift Station in support the growth of local industrial employers. The investment will be matched with $597,000 in local funds and is expected to retain 100 jobs, according to grantee estimates.
This project is funded under EDA’s American Rescue Plan Economic Adjustment Assistance program, which makes $500 million in Economic Adjustment Assistance grants available to American communities.
