UPDATE: The statewide Silver Alert for Lauren Schmidt has been canceled. The teen has been found safe.

ORIGINAL STORY: A statewide Silver Alert has been issued for a 17-year-old girl missing in LaPorte County.

The LaPorte County Sherriff’s office is investigating the disappearance of Lauren Schmidt.

She’s described as white, 5 feet 4 inches tall, 120 pounds, brown and blond hair with blue eyes, and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants.

Schmidt is missing from Mill Creek and was last seen around 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sep. 22.

She’s believed to be in danger.
