DNA evidence has solved a cold case in Elkhart.

It happened on May 22, 2002, when police responded to a call on the 600 block of S 3rd Street.

That’s when they found Robert Reed dead on the floor.

An autopsy found that Reed died from multiple injuries to his head and next, saying that his death was a homicide.

In 2021, a witness told police that Reed’s neighbor, Marcus Love, admitted to beating Reed to death after it happened.

ABC 57 News reports that DNA from both Love and Reed was found on Love’s shirt.

Love allegedly went back and forth about what happened to Reed, later admitting to being at the house frequently.

He was charged with one count of murder.
