Fall foliage in Northern Indiana

Bicentennial Park Fall Foliage (Sam Tongue/Federated Media)

It’s the middle of October and Indiana fall foliage is starting to really kick in.

Northern parts of the state are estimated to be at partial peak for fall foliage so far.

Meanwhile, central Indiana is starting to show patchy color.

Southern Indiana is at minimal peak for now.

How much color you see depends on summer rainfall.

June was one of the driest months on record in Indiana, but rainfall totals picked back up in July and August.

The good news is with cooler temps in the forecast for later this month and into November, those conditions favor more vibrant colors.
