A man in Benton Harbor has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for firearm charges after crashing his vehicle into a bank last year.

32 year-old Theron Darrell Perry was sentenced five years ago for being a felon in possession of a firearm, and was released in January of this year.

WSJM reports that he was arrested again for possession of a firearm in April and released soon after.

He acquired another firearm in May through a friend.

Officers attempted to arrest him a short time later, and while fleeing Perry crashed his car into the Flagstar Bank on Niles Avenue in St. Joseph.

He was sentenced to 114 months for recent conduct and another 24 months in prison for violating the terms of his supervised release on the 2017 offense.

His sentences were imposed consecutively.
