East Bank Trail reopened to the public

South Bend Public Works says the structural repairs on the East Bank Trail and Leeper Avenue Bridge have been completed ahead of schedule.

The trail has been reopened to the public.

Leeper Avenue has also reopened from North Shore Drive to Napoleon Street.

They were closed in October of 2021 when a vehicle hit the Leeper Avenue Bridge and caused structural damage.

The contractor had until next June to complete the repairs but was able to finish early thanks to favorable weather conditions.
