State lawmakers have advanced a bill that would essentially expand parts of a school choice program in Indiana.

Right now, special education students can enroll in an education scholarship account that can help them pay to go to which ever school they and their parents wish.

The bill passed by the Senate Appropriations committee would expand that to other types of students who meet certain qualifications.

It’s a step towards what Senator Mike Braun wants to see throughout the U.S. He spoke to the school choice advocates earlier this week.
