Woman’s screams lead Benton Harbor Police to man, dead inside vehicle

A man was found dead inside a vehicle in Benton Harbor and police are calling his death suspicious.

Officers with the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety were called, on Sunday, Feb. 5, to the 300 block of Marshall to investigate a report of a woman heard screaming.

On arrival, police discovered Denell Newson, 27, of Benton Harbor, dead inside a vehicle.

Investigators say the woman heard screaming is one of Newson’s family members. They also say a dark-colored Dodge Charger was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed.
