To the government of South Bend: It’s not the speeding, it’s the gunfire. In fact, they are probably speeding to get away from the gunfire! But by all means, keep worrying about everything else except getting the thugs off your streets and behind bars (and keeping them there).
Just ban speeding. Or maybe you should just require people to have government issued licensing to operate motor vehicles and pass an excessive amount of regulation governing their use. Surely nobody could break the law if you do that, right?
The streets don’t need “calming”. The problem is societal. We live in a time when people think that laws, mores, and civility don’t apply to THEM. Changing the streets won’t change reckless drivers.
Mayor Peter’s Smart Streets were a bad decision for the city of South Bend. Most people in the area want them changed back to the way they were. Mayor Pete moved far away and doesn’t care about the streets of South Bend anymore.
The high crime in the city limits should be a higher level of priority. Too many robberies, shootings, stabbing, carjackings, and people driving into buildings under the influence. This city will not change with the lunatic woke politicians making all the decisions and laws.
