Man arrested after being found in home that did not belong to him

Elkhart Police // Alyssa Foster

A man has appeared in court after reportedly being found in a home that did not belong to him.

Charles Borum, 64, was arrested in Elkhart after the owner of a Lambert Court home came home and found his living room a mess, with food, trash and cigarette butts on the floor.

The Goshen News says the owner of the home told police he was in another state helping his brother and that nobody was supposed to be at his house.

Reports say the home owner reported hundreds of dollars’ worth of food missing but that nothing else had been taken.

A backpack and documentation for Borum was found in the living room.

Borum initially denied entering the home but later told police that he had only been inside for one day.
