Two people seriously hurt in crash on Lincolnway East

The very latest after two people were seriously hurt in a crash on Easter Sunday evening.

Emergency crews were called, just after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 9, to the 1900 block of Lincolnway East for a single-vehicle crash.

Investigators say a 35-year-old Elkhart man was driving a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, eastbound, when the vehicle hit the curb and crashed into a retaining wall. The driver and his 32-year-old passenger were both hurt and taken to a local hospital. Authorities say the passenger suffered life-threatening injuries.

Toxicology reports are pending.

The crash remains under investigation by the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team.
