Niles man charged with murder after deadly Easter Sunday shooting in downtown South Bend

A Niles man has been charged with murder for his role in a deadly shooting that took place in the early morning hours of Easter Sunday.

Marcus Deion Lee Hatcher, 28, is currently in custody in Niles, just days after Eddie Tyler IV, 24, was shot while sitting in the backseat of a car as it began to travel down the 200 block of South Lafayette Blvd.

The shooting stemmed from an altercation that began in the parking lot of Finnie’s Bar.

Police found spent shell casings near the bar, as well as where Tyler was struck by gunfire on Lafayette after an exchange of gunfire between Hatcher and another man that Tyler was with at the time.

Hatcher is also charged with a firearm enhancement, which could bring his total prison sentence to as many as 85 years if convicted on both charges.
