Body found on St. Joseph River identified as that of missing man

A man whose body was found caught in some fallen tree branches in the St. Joseph River has been identified as 47-year-old Anthony Banks.

Banks was last seen alive on March 4 and was reported missing. Boaters spotted the body on Friday, April 14.

St. Joseph County Police are awaiting the completion of the full autopsy report, no specific determinations have been made and the death investigation is still ongoing.

Anybody that might have information about the disappearance of Anthony Banks is asked to the County Police Detective Bureau at 574-235-9569 or South Bend Police Detective Kozora at 574-235-7472.
