Gunshot victim who walked into hospital with gunshot wound dies, search for suspect underway

A person who walked into the hospital with a gunshot wound later died and police are looking for the suspect.

On Wednesday, May 3, shortly after 1:30 p.m., South Bend Police were advised of a walk-in gunshot wound victim at Memorial Hospital.

Officers were later informed that the victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Through an investigation, the shooting is believed to have occurred in the area of Marion and Taylor Streets in South Bend.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending next-of-kin notifications.

The victim’s autopsy is set for today in Kalamazoo.

The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is handling this investigation.

I’m guessing the autopsy will find that he died of a gunshot wound.
