Man arrested in connection with South Bend shooting that left one person wounded

A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that wounded a male near a shopping plaza on South Bend’s east side.
It was last Wednesday, May 3, when South Bend Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 3600 block of Edison Road.
On scene, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Now, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office has filed battery by means of a deadly weapon and battery resulting in serious bodily injury charges against Devon McCain, 29, of Mishawaka.
He’s currently being held at the St. Joseph County Jail.
