Red Cross helping five families after South Bend apartment complex blaze

No injuries were reported in a fire at an apartment complex Tuesday morning on South Bend’s east side.

The South Bend Fire Department responded to a call at the Cedar Glen Apartment Homes off East Jefferson Boulevard and 25th Street.

Officials got the fire under control in about 20 minutes. Two apartment units suffered major damage. Three others have smoke damage.

Five families are being taken care of by the American Red Cross.

Part of Jefferson was closed while crews battled the blaze.
