Mishawaka’s Adam Driver named honorary starter for Indy 500

(IMS)

A Mishawaka native has been named the honorary starter for this year’s Indy 500.

Adam Driver will wave the green flag for the 107th 500 this weekend. The actor, perhaps best known for his portrayal of Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequels, is a two-time Oscar nominee who has also received nominations for his work on TV and the stage.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway President J. Douglas Boles called Driver “a fitting addition” to the race weekend, citing his service in the Marine Corps and his co-founding of the non-profit Arts in the Armed Forces.

The race is scheduled for Sunday and will be on NBC.
