A man from Bristol was killed after the motorcycle he was operating collided with a horse.

The crash happened just after 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, on County Road 35 south of County Road 4.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s deputies say John Bryan, 45,  crashed into the horse, which was in the roadway. Bryan died at the scene.

The owner of the horse said the animal escaped his property at some point prior to the crash.

The horse survived with just a minor injury and was taken back into custody by the owner.

Other factors that led to the collision are still being investigated.
