If the bill goes through the legislature, a fine of $500 will be given to the person sending an unwanted nude picture.

The legislation wouldn’t apply if the recipient asks for the material.

The bill is still in the house committee and sponsored almost entirely by women.

Michigan would not be the first state to pass unsolicited nude bills.

Virginia and Texas have similar laws in place.

A 2020 study by the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University found that, of the people surveyed, more than half had received nude photos in the past.

70% of women say that they felt disrespected by the unsolicited nudes.
