Bloomington man found guilty of crimes connected to IU student’s death

A man from Bloomington was found guilty for three crimes regarding the death of an Indiana University student last year.

35-year-old Eric Montgomery was found guilty of rape and attempted obstruction of justice.

The sentencing also included a misdemeanor charge of providing alcohol to a minor. Police say 20-year-old Avery McMillan was found unconscious in a home belonging to Montgomery’s parents in August of last year.

Deputies gave her three doses of Narcan, but she did not survive. Montgomery will be sentenced August 14th.
