The LaPorte County E-911 Regional Dispatch Center received several calls around 3:53 p.m. on July 7.

The calls were regarding gunshots in the 400 block of York Street. When officers arrived, two Michigan City residents were found with gunshot wounds.

Medical care was provided to both victims by officers until LaPorte County EMS arrived on scene.

One victim was flown to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with life-threatening injuries, and the other victim was taken to Franciscan Health in Michigan City for non-life-threatening injuries.

Numerous articles of evidence were collected and witnesses have been interviewed, but the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Michigan City Police Department.
